  1. Agreed, but those bags do not work well with vacuum sealer.

  2. My apologies, I always thought that chamber sealers were a type of vacuum sealer. True, bags with channels are expensive, and edge sealers are different from those with a full chamber.

  9. Anyone else remember the Parrot guy? More northeast OC but he always had a huge parrot or two and you would see him in his Nissan Cube or Scion xB. I let him once as we had an old kid splash pool on one of the five it away groups and he came and got it for his birds. He always has on a Hawaiian shirt and has crazy long curly blond ish hair. Cool guy.

  14. Yes! You're right by 7 months according to the copyright date Oct 15, 2008 for Under Pressure: Cooking Sous Vide, McGee. I had dismissed (and forgotten) McGee even before looking up the timeline since I didn't have library access to the book and the contents of the book are only available through purchase. Baldwin published his book Apr 12, 2010 Sous Vide for the Home Cook, Baldwin, but his website pre-publish sous vide content dates via Wayback to May 1, 2009.

  15. On Food and Cooking by McGee is much much earlier than his sous vide book. This science goes back to the 70s.

  16. The nice thing about grills is that at 500 degrees, no possible pathogen is surprising. You may just get a little extra iron in your diet from the rust. Win win.

  25. I had that happen, but maybe I was the jerk. A much higher level team was blasting around the map and I was nearly dead and so I ran to and called the shuttle. I got kicked right as it was landing.
