  1. Every time someone says they don’t want to pay for someone else’s healthcare….. like…. Do you understand how insurance works?

  2. One of the biggest problems with any socialized or government funded program is fraud and that shit is rampant. Why we can’t have nice things. It’s usually the counter argument you get. Fraud is a problem but it can be controlled and they often suck at handling it. And that’s often what it comes down to. Why give my hard earned money to these programs when you’ll just waste it? They need to do a better job of explaining that to people.

  3. Jeff Bezos lost 243,000 dollars a minute this year so far making him the lowest paid man on earth. Ok, can we acknowledge metrics like this are bullshit now. Bezos doesn't actually make money. He's just sitting on a gigantic pile of stock that fluctuates wildly in value based on an absurdly reactive market.

  4. And on top of this, Amazon is a public company and the founder/CEO/whatever can’t just raise wages across the board on their own. There’s a board of directors and shareholders to be accountable to so do we count their net worth here too?

  5. Washingtonian, also left out. Which is good, because both our neighboring states and the pacific coast seem to have been relocated or deleted, so who knows where we’d end up.

  6. Yup right there next to Main. Lord have mercy.

  7. Might be easier asking what 2 singers sound similar. Pretty much any “great” singer is also distinct and unmistakable.

  8. I was taught shitloads of geometry, but they didn’t include how to actually use it in a practical fashion.

  9. That’s what video game programming is all about. Tons of practical math and geometry put to good use.

  10. You hang loose, bludd...she gonna catch up with you real quick on the med side.

  11. Chump don’t want da help, chump don’t get da help!

  12. One bomb is all it would take. There are no “accidents”.

  13. Yeah, and it's honestly dumb. I'm not a Musk fanboy, but his dad didn't own an emerald mine.

  14. No, not at all. It’s just a way for “unsuccessful” people to chalk up their lack of success to “not being born into money, so what could I have done?” rather than actually doing what it takes to be successful. And also forgetting scores of multi-millionaires who came from absolute poverty.

  15. Is that same 30mm they use in the a10 warthog?

  16. It's not a GAU, but 30mm is 30mm so... kind of?

  17. They don't keep the price at $1.50 for the sake of altruism.

  18. No for-profit business (especially a public company) operates altruistically. But there is such thing as a win-win scenario. What's wrong with both sides benefitting from something?

  19. Their pizza is perfect for kids birthday parties. $10 per and it’s not bad.

  20. We often buy 2 fresh pizzas when we go. For $10 a piece, we freeze whatever we don't eat and have leftover pizza ready to reheat any time we feel like.

  21. It’s the vegan mentality, no one cares about your personal choices until you make it your mission to tell everyone why your choice is the superior one.

  22. Oml this works both ways though. I know some child free people who relish every moment they get to tell everyone they know how great life is without children. We get it. Also, kids do grow up. The same people continue to publicly appreciate how great it is to be able to go to a bar during the afternoon because “childfree!” Or how awful it is watching the new parents have to lug around all that stuff when eating out. Or whatever. Kids grow up. You aren’t “stuck” caring for them your whole life. The amount of “see, that’s why we didn’t have kids!” rhetoric can be insufferable.

  23. Just so you know, Russia has more than enough nukes to wipe the World three times over.

  24. I'm well aware of that. WW3 can mean either a "traditional" war among nations or it can simply mean MAD which is essentially suicide for whomever starts it.

  25. Unless I'm missing something, Putin and Putin alone is the one pushing for this war. Even if he is pushed to the breaking point, he still needs others in his circle to push the red button. I seriously doubt they would comply given that they are likely sane and scratching their heads at the lengths Putin would go to in order to save face.

  26. They are perfectly pacing the car to their right..

  27. This is actually illegal in some states and highway patrol would absolutely ticket them for it if they had jurisdiction. Cops hate this as much as anyone.

  28. They can start the dirty Olympics. Take whatever a doctor will give you and compete on a level field.

  29. Kid Rock has cancelled concerts in my city twice. Both times due to low ticket sales.

  30. This sounds pretty terrifying. How should one interpret this discovery? Is it a common sort of thing?

  31. Honestly the only 'real' principle there is "You can't tell me what to do" which as principles go, is barely one.

  32. Pretty sure that after a heart transplant, there’s a whole lot more “tell ‘em what to do” to come. I mean does this guy think the doctors will just leave him alone afterwards?

  33. IMPORTANT EDIT: i am speaking from how i think this stuff works based on things ive seen, news reports, comments over time and i am biased. Dont take what i am saying here as truth. There was an accountant from canada who commented their knowledge of this topic, though america might be different in this regard.

  34. Ugh. Again, it only does so if they were going to donate anyway. If they are a rich asshole that has no interest in being charitable, it doesn’t help them one bit.

  35. Your comment just tells me you didnt actually read my example, though i edited it in a bit after, tbf. Go back and read it

  36. Ok yes I didn’t see the whole example at first. I see what you are saying for specific individuals with specific tax bracket scenarios. For ultra wealthy it can make enough of a difference like you said but for the purpose of this thread and this scenario I don’t think we’re dealing with the kind of numbers that justify the blanket sentiment of “oh they’re just doing it to save money on taxes”. We’re not talking about a billionaire here.

  37. “Hope I die before I get old”. Sorry Roger, you’re still alive.

  38. The overwhelming majority of people working in the U.S. do not have contracts. Which is why OP was so easily fired for asking for a pay raise.

  39. Contract or not, it’s easy to be fired. Many states are “at will” employment.

  40. Was it reported that one of the South African doctors who has been treating patients infected with this variant said most of the patients present with mild symptoms and are unvaccinated? Was that accurate or misinformation?

  41. Microsoft can't even get a decent version of Powerpoint out after 30 years. They aren't going to be able to track 7 billion people.

  42. Well that, and the fact that Bill Gates has had zero to do with Microsoft for many years now.

  43. And EVERYTHING is 4.5 stars 🤔 I don’t even bother looking at the 5 star reviews anymore. I just look at the percentage of 1 stars a product got
