Does your job have a respiratory protection policy? Have you been fit tested and had a pulmonary function test? Did work assign the respirator? There are laws regarding this. You do have the right cartridge, at least. The purple is a p100, which is for particulates (same as N95), except the p stands for petroleum, so the cartridge works for petroleum mists and dust particles The yellow band is for organic vapors and acid gases.

I bought the respirator when my boss had us tear out his old insulation from one of his own properties a couple months ago lol. Our company has no safety professional, just a couple of older plasterers who laugh at PPE.
I am a plasterer and have dabbled in drywall. You got absolutely took. I feel bad for you. Not only is the price way to high even if the work was perfect, I can tell already this is going to look awful finished. Whoever hung the board should be fired. I wouldn’t pay a dime. Hope you find a way to make it work out
